The weather has shifted...Houston might be ok

Well, we have had some wonderful weather the last few weeks. With night time temps dipping down into the 30's and daytime temps in the high 60's fall has arrived to the big hot sweaty city. We are very excited to see family in the upcoming month and I am sure that they will enjoy south Texas in the fall.

Happy 7th Anniversary to us!

Well, here we are...10 years after meeting again and 7 years after saying I do. We have a great life and beautiful children and we are really enjoying our time together. I am so grateful for my family and I just wanted the next few pictures to be about those people that I love. See you next weekend.

Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival

In our weekend search for fun things to do in Houston, we ended up in scenic Conroe just north of the Woodlands. It was a food on a stick festival with Zydeco music. We had a great time, and with food items ranging from Gator on a stick to Boudin on a stick, we had plenty of choices. Jeremiah got his picture taken with Miss Teen Houston and was able to dance the afternoon away with mom while the music played.

Jeremiah's First Time Camping...Kind of

Please enjoy pictures of our failed attempt at camping in Huntsville state park. Evidently you need to make reservations in Texas at State Park Campgrounds in October. Go figure. Well, we made the best of it and had a blast.

The Texas Renaissance Festival

We have been somewhat disappointed in the weekend excursions that we have made throughout the Houston metro since our move. Our first lackluster trip was to the Houston Zoo, which might be the worst Zoo I have been to. The next was to the Aquarium downtown, which is a restaurant disguised as an aquarium and not very good at either. So it was with some hesitation that I went online and purchased my discounted tickets to the renaissance festival. We were pleasantly surprised and Jeremiah had a great time. He was able to ride a horse for the first time and had his face painted and ate a turkey drumstick. I think renaissance festivals attract two types of people: The first would be the kind that like to be entertained by the festival workers, enjoy the food and have a good time. The second has to be a type of dungeons and dragons fan that wants nothing more than to feel normal in their typical day to day dress. Either way, the people watching was on the level of a Sturgis bike rally, the food was great and with the exception of some foul language, we had a great time.

Primera Vez

Hello. This is quite new to me so I assume that as we progress through the lifetime of this blog it will get better and better. When Vanessa told me that she had a blog, I gave her a very hard time and now I am probably a bigger tool than she is assuming that I have something to write that others may want to read. What I hope is that this blog will give me an opportunity to post pictures of my children so that family members will be able to see them right away and not have to wait for them to be sent in the mail. Enjoy our blog and let me know how lame I truly am if you would like.
