Biloxi on the way home
On the way home from our vacation, we stayed in Biloxi and checked out the beach. This was the first time that we had really seen any of the hurricane devastation from Katrina. Of course the casinos rebuilt immediately, but on the main strip where large historic homes used to face the ocean there was nothing but concrete foundation slabs. This was two years ago and still most had not started to rebuild. There was an old apartment building across from the Hard Rock Casino that look like it had been shelled by an explosive. I was using the GPS in my car to try to find a gas station and it kept telling me that there was one upcoming only to find that the station was no longer there. It was surreal.
