VACATION!

We took a long trip to Palm Springs, California. We DROVE there, stopping in Las Cruces, New Mexico on the way there and returning with stops in Tucson and Fredericksburg, Texas. If was nearly 3000 miles of driving! The weather in Palm Springs was also hotter than normal (temps between 105 and 118!), but we stayed at a great resort and had a really fun family vacation.

The Living Desert

We went to The Living Desert, a zoo/botanical garden. The kids got to feed the giraffes and pet the sheep and goats, but it was HOT for all so our visit was brief...

We celebrated Karina's b-day with a visit to Joshua Tree National Park- beautiful!

Beating the Heat- With Outdoor Play?!

We played a little tennis, baseball and football in the earlier hours of the day. Our vacation consisted of multiple days with temps around 115 degrees(!), so by the afternoon we were inside or in the pool.

Tucson

On the way home, we stopped in Tucson. The weather seemed COOL compared to Palm Springs! (And for that matter, Houston has been quite comfortable since we got home!)

Happy 4th of July!

We hung out with the Carlsons and Hennemans for the evening of the 4th: swimming, barbecue, (illegal) fireworks, and a rare late night for the kiddos!

Liliana's 2nd Birthday

Liliana had a ladybug themed birthday, complete with another homemade cake and cupcakes, pinata and craft. L had been practicing the Happy Birthday song and candle blowing for weeks, so she was ready! We were joined by some wonderful little friends. Happy Day to our big girl!
